Detailed itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you'll be transferred to your hotel. You'll have time to settle in, receive a briefing about the trek from your tour operator, and prepare for the adventure ahead.

This day is dedicated to exploring the cultural and historical landmarks of Kathmandu Valley. You'll visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), and Pashupatinath Temple, immersing yourself in Nepal's rich cultural heritage.

An early morning flight takes you to Tumlingtar, followed by a scenic drive to Chichira. From there, you'll begin trekking towards Num village, passing through picturesque landscapes and enjoying your first views of the Himalayas.

Today's trek involves descending steeply to the Arun River and then ascending through lush forests and terraced fields to reach Seduwa, a charming village where you'll spend the night.

Continuing your journey, you'll trek through small settlements and rhododendron forests. After crossing several streams, you'll arrive at Tashigaon, the last permanent settlement before entering more remote areas of the Makalu region.

Leaving Tashigaon, you'll ascend through forested ridges, enjoying panoramic views of Makalu and Chamlang peaks along the way. Khongma Danda offers a serene setting for acclimatization and preparation for higher altitudes.

Today is a rest day to help your body acclimatize to the increasing altitude. You can take short hikes around Khongma Danda, soaking in the mountain views and adjusting to the thinner air.

Ascending further, you'll trek towards Shipton La Pass (4,125m), where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding peaks. Descend to Dobate, a tranquil spot nestled amidst the wilderness.

Today's trek takes you through diverse landscapes of lush forests and open meadows. Following the Barun River, you'll reach Yangri Kharka, surrounded by stunning views of the Himalayan landscape.

Continuing higher into the alpine region, you'll trek through yak pastures and rocky moraines. Langmale Kharka offers a dramatic setting with close-up views of Makalu and its neighboring peaks.

The highlight of the trek, today you'll trek to Makalu Base Camp, situated at the foot of Mount Makalu. The landscape transforms into a rugged terrain of glaciers and towering peaks, providing an awe-inspiring experience.

After soaking in the majestic views of Mount Makalu, you'll descend back to Yangri Kharka, retracing your steps through Langmale Kharka and enjoying the changing scenery along the way.

Descending further through forests and meadows, you'll return to Dobate, where you can reflect on the journey and enjoy the tranquility of the wilderness surroundings.

Today's trek brings you back to Tashigaon, retracing your path through villages and forests. Tashigaon offers a welcoming atmosphere and a chance to reconnect with local culture before heading back.

Descending from Tashigaon, you'll trek back to Num village, passing through familiar landscapes and reflecting on the achievements and memories made during the trek.

The final leg of your journey involves trekking down to Chichira and driving to Tumlingtar. From there, you'll catch a flight back to Kathmandu, where you can reminisce about your adventure and celebrate your trekking accomplishment.
