Detailed itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, you can rest and recover from your journey or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, a popular tourist area. In the evening, there will be a briefing about the trek, followed by a welcome dinner featuring authentic Nepali cuisine.

After breakfast, you’ll embark on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar, the starting point of the Annapurna Circuit Trek. The journey takes you through lush green hills, terraced fields, and traditional villages, providing a glimpse of rural Nepal. Besisahar, located at 760 meters (2,493 feet), serves as the gateway to the Annapurna region.

The trek starts from Besisahar, following the Marsyangdi River through picturesque villages and terraced fields. The path gradually ascends through subtropical forests, leading to Chame at 2,710 meters (8,891 feet). Along the way, you’ll be treated to stunning views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal.

Leaving Chame, the trail continues through dense forests and narrow, steep-sided valleys. You’ll cross several suspension bridges and pass through charming villages before reaching Pisang at 3,300 meters (10,826 feet). The landscape begins to change, offering glimpses of the arid, high-altitude region ahead.

This segment of the trek offers two routes: a lower, easier trail or a higher, more challenging one via Upper Pisang. Both paths lead to Manang, a picturesque village situated at 3,540 meters (11,614 feet). En route, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Annapurna III, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak.

A rest day in Manang helps you acclimatize to the altitude. You can explore the village, visit the Himalayan Rescue Association clinic for a high-altitude lecture, or hike to nearby attractions like the Gangapurna Lake and the Bhojo Gompa. This day is crucial for preventing altitude sickness and preparing for the higher altitudes ahead.

Continuing from Manang, the trail ascends steadily through alpine landscapes, past juniper bushes and small streams. You’ll reach Yak Kharka at 4,050 meters (13,287 feet), a small settlement known for its grazing yaks. The increasing altitude and thinning vegetation signal your approach to the higher regions of the trek.

The trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,450 meters / 14,600 feet) is shorter but steeper, as you move closer to the Thorong La Pass. The trail crosses a suspension bridge and climbs steeply before reaching the base camp area. Thorong Phedi serves as the staging point for the challenging pass crossing.

This is the most demanding day of the trek, starting early to cross the Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters (17,769 feet). The ascent is long and strenuous, but reaching the pass rewards you with awe-inspiring views of the surrounding peaks. After crossing, you’ll descend to the sacred town of Muktinath, located at 3,760 meters (12,336 feet).

Descending from Muktinath, the trail leads you into the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the world’s deepest gorge. You’ll pass through the village of Marpha, famous for its apple orchards and produce. Continuing the descent, you’ll reach Tatopani (1,200 meters / 3,937 feet), known for its rejuvenating natural hot springs.

From Tatopani, the trail ascends again, taking you through dense rhododendron forests and traditional villages. The climb to Ghorepani at 2,850 meters (9,350 feet) is gradual but steady. Ghorepani is renowned for its panoramic views and serves as the gateway to the famous Poon Hill.

An early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210 meters / 10,531 feet) offers a spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas, with views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. After enjoying the vista, you’ll descend through beautiful forests to Nayapul. From Nayapul, a short drive takes you to the lakeside city of Pokhara.

After a restful night in Pokhara, you’ll either drive or fly back to Kathmandu, concluding your trekking adventure. This return journey provides a final chance to reflect on the incredible experiences and stunning landscapes you’ve encountered on the Annapurna Circuit.
